Pilgrims visit the Upstairs Lounge Memorial Site.

Gris Gris is a charm used by voodoo practitioners to ward off evil spirits and calls on the spirit of God to bring luck to those who wear it. This Lent, join the krewe of an intentional religious community seeking God and faith on the streets and through the history of New Orleans. Pray. Study. Reflect. Walk. Eat. Reflect some more.

During Lent 2024, sojourners will journey to my hometown to discover and act upon tenets of faith while experiencing together one of the world's most dynamic cities. Engage "the city that care forgot" through the lens of scriptural salvation history while deepening your spiritual life and studying together within a spiritual community.

“ I was expecting an old-time religious retreat, but this retreat quickly became something quite different, and enormously more engaging, than what I anticipated.”

Dr. Mary Blue presents a lecture on how New Orleans is portrayed through film.

Pilgrims will hear from local artists and scholars, eat at one of New Orleans’ classic restaurants, and visit several historical sites, including:

  • VUE New Orleans

  • Whitney Plantation

  • Mardi Gras World

  • City Park

The retreat costs $1900 per person or $3600 per couple. Your registration includes; all retreat materials, 5 community breakfasts, 3 community boxed lunches, 2 community dinners, 5 nights in the beautiful Q&C Hotel, attraction admission, transportation to and from attractions, and an end-of-pilgrimage private concert with Lilli Lewis, a progressive, provocative, glorious powerhouse performer with a focus on social justice.

“Whitney Plantation was extraordinary. I used the audio device on my self-tour and found it so very informative and filled with great details yet, at the same time, allowing for reflection off the guided path. I have to include as part of my favorite parts of the pilgrimage was hearing shared stories and experiences of the day, especially from one who, at the start of the retreat, clearly indicted they would not be participating in our daily sessions. That they were so drawn into the experience and decided to share their feelings on several different experiences as well as taking the time to learn about who I am-
to me, that was truly the work of the Holy Spirit!”
